The animated flick based on Charles Dickens’ short story, “The Life of Our Lord”, has dazzled me beyond description. I even love how Mofac Animation brought this animated masterpiece to life and would like to see more from this Korean Animation studio. This movie’s a real treat as Easter Day is closing in. And for this occasion, the very day where Jesus has died for our sins and arose onto Heaven. The movie also really touches on the themes of forgiveness and understanding as Jesus stands as the one true King of Kings. The film’s a real marvel that I would like to have a look at it before Easter Day.
Time to Raise the Curtains as Charles Dickens would tell the greatest story for countless generations of faith. As he tells the story, it’s time for us to dive in to the Story of the man who sacrificed himself to pardon everyone’s sins.
Plot Spoilers
The film follows Charles Dickens, a young author who narrates the biography of Jesus Christ. Together, he and his son Walter embark on an adventure as the master storyteller engages the boy's vivid imagination.
Pros and Cons of the Film
As far as I’m concerned, I don’t see any flaws except wanting to see the story last a bit longer for a bigger impact. At the same time, I kind of felt that the QR Code message after the film deemed unnecessary. I can understand that some people want to show further support in the film but there are other ways, such as watching the film again let alone spreading the message via review.
The movie’s a real spiritual sense of joy upon Palm Sunday and Easter Day. The animated film presented a strong epic in the life and times of Jesus. I also find it wonderful how Walter and Willa the cat act as audience inserts when Charles tells the story. The animation, the music, even the flow of the plot is like staying awake for a symphonic concert until the end of the performance. Speaking of performances, I tip my hat off to some of the all star actors including Mark Hamill, Vanessa Marshall, and Jim Cummings. I even like how Charles Dickens brings imagination into a light where the story brought to light. The overall synergy presents a lot of promise from MOFAC animation studio. The movie does present a powerful message that a Christian like myself would understand. King of Kings is a movie that’s worth watching with an entire Christian family by the time of Easter Sunday.
Final Thoughts
The movie is a treasure and a marvel to watch again during Passover, let alone Palm Sunday and Easter. This movie also made a believer out of me as well. The movie truly has filled my heart and soul with a desire for understanding and forgiveness. Despite the film needing a little more detail for more in the story, the film has presented a near sense of perfection. Regardless, that only Jesus and Heaven itself are perfect. Even Charles Dickens storytelling to Walter really felt like he’s witnessing the story himself. This family movie is highly recommended.
I’m giving King of Kings 9.9 out of 10 stars for the stellar performance, beautiful computer animation, and a compelling story that is worth watching again. I will be watching it again before Easter Sunday.
