Written by Yongma Lee
Seen at Regal Lacey Cinemas in September 27, 2024; Movie Released in September 27, 2024
Nearing the end of the year, I watched a very amazing movie called “The Wild Robot.” The animated film deserves high marks in storytelling, animated style, and all-star voice cast. Chris Sanders should also do an amazing job in directing and writing the script for the movie. The Wild Robot has been a wonderful spectacle that I would like to see the film again. It could also be a strong indication that DreamWorks might usurp Disney. The film is also heartwarming that could rekindle a viewer’s inner child. The movie’s also worth the wait and the compelling tale it brings.
As we dive into the film, please be aware of spoilers. It’s time to bring out our wild side.
Plot Spoilers
After a shipwreck, an intelligent robot named Roz stranded on an uninhabited island with only the wilderness in sight. To survive the harsh environment, Roz bonds with the island's animals and cares for an orphaned gosling. Can Roz ignore her programming in favor of learning? How can the robot survive in the wilderness? Can she have the gosling ready to fly by autumn?
Pros and Cons in the Film
The Wild Robot has so many good qualities that there is hardly any flaw. Chris Sanders have done an amazing job as director and screenwriter for the film. His direction in animation also evokes a tone similar to Ghibli films. The hand painted approach helps gives it a brand new approach. The movie evokes all kinds of emotions that it’s worth watching. The story is compelling and heart wrenching. It also explore Roz’s self discovery. The music is also heartwarming. Two of the Songs have a powerful emotional effect while I was watching. Combined with an all-star cast, the best movie I’ve watched.
I am looking forward to more original titles from DreamWorks animation. The art direction and the Music are what got my interest. The beautiful flow within the story also draws me in. The Cast, including Pedro Pascal and Mark Hamill, also did a magnificent work. My only hope is that the future works will be as good as the Wild Robot.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I love movie that it’s worth watching a few more times. Chris Sanders is an all-star director and writer. He brings storytelling to a new level. His Works includes Lilo & Stitch as well as How to Train Your Dragon in his portfolio. At the rate Sanders doing, he could be the next Walt Disney. The movie’s visuals and music are very captivating and well-executed. DreamWorks is in the middle of a brighter era. I even like the character development from Roz as well as the animals on the island. Even the movie’s script is very flowing and witty. Sanders truly poured out his heart and soul to perfect this adaptation. I would like to see more of his involvement in future projects.
Given the performance from the film, it took my breath away in more ways than one. I’m giving “the Wild Robot” 9.9 out of 10 Stars for its groundbreaking work. To improve ourselves, we have to be more than what they programmed us into.
